Minister of Health Claims That Cambodia Has Succeeded in The National Campaign to Vaccinate Against Covid-19

Phnom Penh: The Minister of Health, Mr. Mam Bunheng affirmed that Cambodia has succeeded in the national campaign to vaccinate against Covid-19, both basic and booster doses, which have established a truly strong community immunity and good management of public health risk levels, although community outbreaks persist.

This statement was made during the meeting to review and evaluate the health achievements in 2021 and set the direction for 2022 in the context of living with Covid-19 in the new normal this morning, 16 March 2022 at the office of the Ministry of Health.

He said that since Cambodia first detected the outbreak, the government has put in place strategies, mechanisms, and measures to control and prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the community, especially for living and launching social activities. The economy is recovering step by step along the new normal path.

Meanwhile, on 15 March 2022, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Health, Ms. Or Vandin said that Cambodia had achieved the Covid-19 vaccination campaign 8 months ago, targeting people aged 18 and over.

The Minister commended all civil servants and health workers for their hard work in overcoming obstacles and difficulties to serve the people and highly appreciated the support and cooperation from local administrations and relevant institutions, active participation from the community, and Partnerships with the private sector, financial and technical support from national and international development partners and NGOs, and progress in other areas have made a significant contribution to the progress of the health sector in 2021, in particular, joint efforts and mobilization of available resources for prevention and prevent the spread of Covid-19 disease.
